Lajos d'Ebneth
Szilagyzomlyo, Romania, 1902
Lajos d'Ébneth belonged to the Hungarian nobility. After an art education in Budapest, Ebneth took lessons from Franz von Stuck in Munich. He moved to the Netherlands, where he lived in The Hague and Kijkduin, where he came into contact with De Stijl, the art movement known by, among others, Piet Mondrian. In the beginning of his career he mainly made abstract works. However, in the mid-1930s, when he lived in America, he made a switch and his work became more figurative. However, this did not last long, because 10 years later he moved to Peru where his art became abstract again.
