United States, 1917-2008
Edna Andrade emerged as an artist in the Op Art movement in the 1960s. Her early art mainly consists of surrealistic and figurative landscapes made with watercolor paint and ink. During a trip to Germany, Andrade came into contact with Bauhaus and German modernism. The artistic experiments that took place in Europe inspired Andrade: her work changed color, design and abstraction. Andrade's art is characterized by geometric shapes, vibrant colors and dynamic lines.
