Hugo Kaagman
Haarlem, 1955
Hugo Kaagman is a very successful artist. He is known as the Dutch stencil king. Today this technique is used by many street art artists, but Kaagman was already a true pioneer in this field in the eighties. He then developed his unique and recognizable style that can be recognized from thousands: Delft Blue combined with Moorish motifs and contemporary symbols. Delft Blue is the trademark of Hugo Kaagman. His 'Delftware' offers perspective on today's society and is also widely appreciated abroad and can therefore be found all over the world. In the Netherlands, too, streets, buildings and walls are provided by Kaagman with his often humorous depictions. His work is included in the collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, among others. Kaagman was also the only Dutch artist to be invited by Banksy and Tristan Manco for the Cans Festival in London.
